Job Description
The Events and Partnerships Manager will oversee major events, cultivate strategic partnerships, and manage stakeholder engagement for the Inclusive Africa Program. This role ensures the successful planning and execution of roundtables, workshops, the annual Inclusive Africa Conference and other convenings focused on digital accessibility. The manager will drive collaboration with private sector organizations, government institutions, and civil society to maximize program impact.
Program Brief
The Inclusive Africa Program (IAP) is a transformative initiative designed to break barriers preventing youth with disabilities from accessing Africa’s digital economy. The program operates under four pillars: standards development, skills development, knowledge generation, and institutional environment enhancement. This three-year program (2025-2028) aims to implement Kenya’s Digital Accessibility Standards and harmonize them across Africa, fostering systemic change. IAP will also train youth with disabilities as Digital Accessibility Champions and host the annual Inclusive Africa Conference. inABLE will partner with other stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector organizations.
Position Summary
The Events and Partnerships Manager will oversee major events, cultivate strategic partnerships, and manage stakeholder engagement for the Inclusive Africa Program. This role ensures the successful planning and execution of roundtables, workshops, the annual Inclusive Africa Conference and other convenings focused on digital accessibility. The manager will drive collaboration with private sector organizations, government institutions, and civil society to maximize program impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Event Management
- Event Planning & Execution: Oversee the organization of in-person, digital, and hybrid events, including the Inclusive Africa Conference, roundtables, workshops and other convenings.
- Logistics & Coordination: Oversee venue selection, speaker coordination, accessibility accommodations, and vendor management.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of Event Coordinators and ensure seamless collaboration with vendors and partners.
- Budget & Reporting: Develop and manage event budgets, conduct post-event evaluations, and prepare reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Advocacy & Communications: Work with the Communications Team to develop advocacy materials, media content, and reports to enhance event impact.
2. Partnerships Engagement
- Strategic Partnerships: Develop and execute a partnership strategy aligned with the organization’s goals, targeting businesses, governments, NGOs, and international organizations. Identify, establish, manage, and grow these partnerships, including negotiating new agreements.
- Content Creation: Oversee content generation that serves the digital accessibility needs of various stakeholder groups.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and strengthen relationships with existing partners, overseeing offerings, monitoring performance, and ensuring goal alignment. Act as a liaison between partners and internal teams.
- Outreach and Development: Create prospect lists, develop outreach campaigns, and identify new partnership opportunities.
- Strengthen relationships with donor agencies and ensure alignment with funding priorities.
- Digital Accessibility Advocacy: Engage with African standards bodies and private sector institutions to advance digital accessibility. Facilitate policy discussions to integrate digital accessibility into national/regional frameworks.
- Representation & Networking: Represent inABLE and IAP at high-level events. Gather stakeholder feedback to improve engagement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Public Relations, International Relations, Event Management, or a related field (master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in event management and partnership development.
- Proven track record of organizing large-scale conferences, roundtables, or advocacy events.
- Experience in managing multi-sectoral partnerships in Africa
- Experience working with governments and private sector organizations.
