The third-annual Inclusive Africa Conference is scheduled for May 25- 26 in Nairobi, Kenya. This hybrid event, organized by inABLE, is set to raise awareness and advance digital accessibility and assistive technology in Africa. Over 200 in-person delegates from across the globe are anticipated, thousands more remote attendees via a virtual event to be live streamed, and in attendance at 20 African county watch parties.

This conference will bring together global and regional experts to focus on the best way forward for digital accessibility in inclusive employment, education, ICT policies, financial services, digital innovations, and mobile assistive technology. This conference will also be made accessible through live captions, sign language, and translation in English and French.

Irene Mbari-Kirika, Founder and Executive Director at inABLE, believes this year’s Inclusive Africa Conference will create a ripple effect in Africa. “In addition to discussing the best way forward for a digitally accessible Africa, this event makes history with the launch of the first-ever national ICT accessibility standard, thanks to the partnership with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and other government partners.”

The second Digital Accessibility Innovations Award will also be part of the conference program to celebrate African innovators who create digital products meant to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities. The winner is set to receive a $10,000 prize fund and specialist mentoring. In addition, one can submit a research paper here guided by the provided instructions.

The Inclusive Africa Conference agenda and 2022 speaker faculty will be announced soon. For more information, please visit the conference website.
