A Peek into the Implementation Framework Workshop
inableAdmin
After the development of a unique standard for ICT accessibility, inABLE got together with representatives from the KEBS, CAK, Ministry of ICT, and other partners to construct an implementation framework that will fundamentally guide the Standards’ compliance [KS 2952].
The team held several virtual meetings to formulate a draft template that can be expounded with the help of a consultant Susanna Laurin, who was involved heavily in the development of EN 301549 and implementation frameworks for different jurisdictions like Norway, Australia, and many others.
The online engagements were very constructive in coming up with draft zero of the document. Still, there was a need to have a physical meeting to enrich the document and adopt a favorable Matrix that the Implementation Framework will peg on.
The physical meeting was held from the 28th to the 4th of March, 2022. Five days may look like a lot of time, but it flew by quickly. From the face of it, it seemed like it was a walk in the park.
However, as we delved deep into the issues, it became apparent that we needed to immerse ourselves and reconstruct from the ground up to make it easier for the end users of the document
The workshop involved a lot of head-scratching, explanations, further clarifications, and tense moments, but most importantly, it came with progress in the right direction.

As they say, good things don’t come easily, and this process proved precisely that. To ensure that the implementation framework is a guideline for the success of the Standard, we had to put ourselves in the shoes of the bodies and institutions that will be critical players in the implementation phase. So we had to peer into the road map and start by looking into the public sector, trickling down to the private sector, and the coverage from the National level coming down to County levels.
We are proud to report that this was a long yet short fruitful session that has contributed positively to the milestone of the ongoing Standard development process. As KS 2952 awaits the approval stage, the team is determined to ensure that everything is in place for the implementation phase and that the Standard won’t be doomed on the shelves regarding enforcement.
