For years, more than 80 million Africans with disabilities have faced digital products and services that were never designed with them in mind inaccessible government services, banking apps, and websites that don't work with assistive technology like screen readers, and devices with no adaptive features leading to exclusion from education, employment, financial services, public services, and everyday digital life.

About Inclusive Africa Conference

In 2020, inABLE launched the Inclusive Africa Conference — a Pan-African convening platform for digital accessibility, assistive technology, and disability inclusion, bringing together governments, the private sector, multinational corporations, organisations of persons with disabilities, innovators, and people with lived experience to turn conversation into collective action.

A major outcome of the Inclusive Africa Conference was the development of Kenya’s ICT Accessibility Standard for Products and Services (KS 2952) in 2022. Building on this progress, we are now working with 25 African member countries to develop Africa’s Digital Accessibility Standard , supported by ARSO and development partners.

The Conference also celebrates African innovation through the AT Village, connecting innovators with mentorship, markets, and funding. It also creates space for African youth with disabilities and people with lived experience to help shape the conversation.
